What does your list_request_transport look like?
Mine looks like this:
**My Transport**
system_alias_mailman_transport:
driver = pipe
return_output
user = mail
group = mail
**My director**
system_aliases:
driver = aliasfile
file = /etc/aliases
user = mailman
group = mailman
search_type = lsearch
pipe_transport = system_alias_mailman_transport
I'm certainly not an exim whiz. I do know that this has been working
for us quite some time now.
