Assumpte: [Exim] Exim having problems receiving mail from certain servers while no blocking list us used...
I think I have quite an interesting case here... (I must have done something wrong, but as far as my knowledge goes, it's starting to get a bit hazy 2 me (and other linux-users I know))...

My problem:

- I have Exim 3.22 running on a Debian system, with practicly the standard configuration, which I obviously adapted 2 my system/domains

- my provider is doing the Nameserving for me. My provider has set this in their NS:

[result of "dig MX multimediadesign.nl" -FROM NON-LOCALHOST-]

------------------------------

- just to be shure I told exim: relay_domains= multimediadesign.nl

- Ipchains (firewall) is set correctly (port 25/smtp & 113/auth open, both TCP & UDP just incase)

- Exim is configured WITHOUT any blockinglist for spam etc..
--------------------------

Okay, the problem:

I can't receive mail from certain (most) mail-servers....

my mail address = testaccount@???
(which I actually now use for the mailing-list @ exim.org and works fine!?)

I tried to receive on testaccount@??? from:

hotmail.com
godmail.com
perl.org (also on the mailinglist there)
exim.org

They are all delivered without any errors what so ever...

I tried to receive on testaccount@??? from:

casema.net
ch10.dyndns.org
delconsulting.com
xs4all.com

They are all not delivered and if they are bounced it takes 5 days or so before they come back) ?!

I tried to telnet to port 25, to multimediadesign.nl (213.10.168.112 - please, feel free :) ), from various machines which then pops-up with:
-- No route to host --

When I try to telnet to other ports to multimediadesign.nl _on the same machine_ I get normal connects...?!
Which is, as you probably agree, kind of weird since some hosts _can_ deliver mail 2 my mailbox...

Exim log says _nothing_ about these attemps that are not delivered. nor in firewall denies or any other logfile on the system.

mail is also often delivered to fallback.wxs.nl (my NS-provider's fallback mail server "fallback.wxs.nl" ).... that also never delivers and hangs around
for about 5 days before coming back...

Tried Exim as daemon and on Inetd (as UID:mail and as root), same result...

I am _out of ideas_.....

please try to send me mail on testaccount@???
maybe I can do something with the results....

Kind Regards,
