Nope, adding
queue_remote_domains = *
didn't change anything. I might add that all ip-addresses are duly
entered in /etc/hosts, and that /etc/host.conf isn't non-standard
either:
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.0.5 middle.of.nowhere middle
192.168.0.1 gates.of.nowhere gates
order hosts,bind
multi on
