DNS.

The target machine is trying to reverse-map the IP address of the source
machine to verify its identity; it's timing out after 30 seconds.

Things to do:

(1) make sure the source machine has a PTR record associated with its IP;
(2) make sure the target machine can resolve DNS including that record;
(3) upgrade to Exim v3 - this is nothing to do with your problem but
it's a good idea on general principles.
