The DNS admins for one my domains e-mailed me about MX record for a
domain today. For this domain I have the preferred MX as devil.postfix.ca which
only has an AAAA record but no A record.(Details below)
For now mail targetted for this domain gets a list of preferred MX
from the DNS. If the sending MTA can speak and lookup AAAA records,
mail goes directly to devil.postfix.ca. However, if the sending MTA
can't get it right...(or can't do a proper AAAA lookup or is not
configured for IPv6), the mail goes to mail.open-systems.org which
(running Exim ofcourse) sends it out the correct host via IPv6.
My question is hence is whether what I doing correct? Is it ok for a
host not to have an A record but an AAAA record?
