I never have more than a 2-3 second lookup for MX records from Exim, and
thats on a 350Mhz K6-2 chip running Linux :> Yes I have bind on the system,

hmmm. i don't have delays anything like this, for comparably sized
lists, on my linux server.

i do have bind running on the same box, which is generally a big win.
