Well, it's best to make sure. I ran my crypt() test program, and it does
give p1tMAeZ.nHWNU as the crypted value.

It looks as though it should work. Indeed, a simple Exim test does work:
$ exim -be
> ${if crypteq{ginzeng}{p1tMAeZ.nHWNU}{yes}{no}}
yes
