I'm using exim on FreeBSD-STABLE (admittedly exim 3.22) and have :
setantae@shaft setantae$ ls -ld /var/mail/
drwxrwxr-x 2 root mail 512 Aug 14 16:39 /var/mail/
setantae@shaft setantae$ ls -al /var/mail/setantae
-rw-rw---- 1 setantae mail 0 Aug 14 00:04 /var/mail/setantae
exim runs as exim:mail and the only thing I seem to have that noone has
mentioned so far is this transport :
local_delivery:
driver = appendfile
file = /var/mail/${local_part}
delivery_date_add
envelope_to_add
return_path_add
group = mail
mode = 0660
I'm not sure whether that will sort this for you or if I am being very stupid.
