I use cdb database for local_domains and relay_domains:

local_domains = partial-cdb;/path/to/local_domains.cdb
relay_domains = partial-cdb;/path/to/relay_domains.cdb

for example, local_domains source contains:

my.domain.com
*.our.domain.org
