Quite a number of mail implementations already support addresses of
the form validuser+extrastring@??? without needing any further
formality by the administrator, beyond registering the validuser of
course.

I don't know where this technique started (maybe sendmail?) but
exim seems to cope happily with it. So if you use "+" instead of
"-" then you don't need to "implement" anything, just tell your users
about it.
