Sujet: [Exim] Call back failure on MAIL FROM:<>
Found a bounce fro a real user in the logs - ran the MX with telnet by hand
and found it rejected <>. After searching the archives, it looks like others
are dealing with it as well. I agree that working around their broken MTA
setup is not the right thing to do. How about a better idea. Perhaps there
could be some automated way in Exim 4 to send the following message back to
both the sender and postmaster@????

Your Mail system is rejecting "MAIL FROM:<>" which is a legitimate bounce
message return address. Unfortunately, It is also used to verify that the
return address of your users mail is actually deliverable and not a spam
forgery as our system does.

It is likely that you have such a setup to reduce spam mail. This is
misguided in that your users will never get legitimate bounce messages and
also prevents us from accepting mail from your server. If you feel that you
need to verify senders of bounce messages a work around is possible. Your
mailer can check the validity of sender, reply-to or from in the headers. If
you MTA won't support such a function you might want to look at Exim
(http://exim.org) which does. It has many other spam blocking features, yet
supports RFC821 fully.

In the mean time you might want to past this message into you auto text.

And for a grin - While testing I found out that asdfghj.com it a real domain
name.
