Comment out the reference to eximon in the Local/Makefile (which you
copied from src/EDITME).
It looks like this:
EXIM_MONITOR=eximon.bin
and is on line 246 (in exim 3.31)
(look at the comments just over this in the Makefile for further
instructions)
