I just quit with sendmail and installed exim instaed. The reason were
problems when sending mail from my private net to my isp's smtp-server. Now, after
messing some time with those problems I found out the following:
When I try to send mail to the mail relay I get the errormessage

When I telnet to port 25 of the mailserver, a typical session looks like

Could this behavior of the server be the reason for my inability of sending
mail and is there a way to make exim ignore this malformed response?
