Yes, should it also explain how to use telnet? What telnet is? The
telnet protocol? TCP/IP details?

Anyone installing an MTA on a unix server SHOULD have some basic
knowledge, and how SMTP/ESMTP works would be one of those basic things
that should be able to be assumed.
