You could add an additional exception - record the message-ID of each
message you send, and look for a "References" (Im not sure if thats the
exact name of it, also I think there might be two different headers
used) header which includes a message ID of any message you originally
sent.. (You could also save Subject line content, and look for a subject
coming back which contains a subject from a message you wrote)
I've added your magic word to the subject so you get this mail, but (as
efective as it might be), requiring anyone who wants to mail you to do
that is still rude, even if you tell them ahead of time.
Personally, I get very little spam in my mailbox anymore, even though my
email address has been in a WHOIS listing for over five years. Or
rather, lots of spam TRIES to get to me, most fails.
I have sender-verification enabled, with SMTP callbacks turned on.
I also have a personal filter setup that looks for my personal
address(es) in To: or Cc: lines. (I have quite a few of them, since I
fill a variety of roles). It has exceptions for senders in certain
domains, and for certain mailing lists, and a few other special cases.
Anything else gets thrown in a junk folder. I would say over 95% of all
spam that tries to get to me doesnt. Of the stuff that makes it through
the SMTP callback, at least 90% of it ends up in the junk folder. I've
nver had any important, legitimate mail end up in the junk folder.
