In which case, I doubt if your IP is listed in the DUL at all.

Two or three reasons -

1. ISP has a fatter pipe to the 'net

2. ISP has got more powerful machines (likely) - ideally running 24*7, with
backups, etc.

3. You are anyway paying them - and part of the cost goes towards the right
to use their smtp server.

So I dont see the reason why you needn't use it :)
