My researches in the code haven't turned up anything that appears to be
significant.
What I am going to do is to build 3.30 as it currently is, and start
running it on our Solaris 8 systems. I will make it available in the
Testing subdirectory for people to try out for this problem.
My expectation is that the problem will still be present. If it is, I
will make another version that has additional logging at some high log
level (say 10) that writes a few log lines while it is supposedly
receiving a message and putting it in a -D file. Running this until
there is an orphan might give me enough information to figure out what
is happening. If not, we might have to go round the loop again...
