You can compile Exim using the standard Solaris compiler?! Didn't know
that.

Solaris-bashing aside, this is the kind of question that's worth asking.
Perhaps, while Philip's away, folks who see this problem should submit
detailed system and Exim configuration details, including things like
compiler and optimization flags.
