Exim runs on exim/exim (80/80) and here is the tree of permissions:
in /var/spool:
drwxr-x--- 5 exim exim 1024 May 31 12:29 exim
in /var/spool/exim:
drwxr-x--- 2 exim exim 1024 May 31 08:10 db
-rw-r--r-- 1 exim exim 6 May 31 12:22 exim-daemon.pid
-rw-r----- 1 exim exim 445 May 31 12:29 exim-process.info
drwxr-x--- 33 exim exim 51200 May 31 12:28 input
drwxr-x--- 33 exim exim 22528 May 31 12:28 msglog
in /var/spool/exim/db:
-rw-r----- 1 exim exim 0 May 31 08:10 reject
-rw-r----- 1 exim exim 0 May 31 08:10 reject.lockfile
-rw-r----- 1 root root 4096 May 30 11:51 retry
-rw-r----- 1 root root 0 May 30 11:51 retry.lockfile
-rw-r----- 1 exim exim 0 May 30 12:08 wait-remote_smtp
-rw-r----- 1 exim exim 0 May 30 12:08
wait-remote_smtp.lockfile
I don't know why retry has root/root permissions...this morning I killed
exim, deleted everything in the dir, and restarted it....exim must have made
it those permissions.
