I'm new to this list, and quite new to unix and exim.
I have checked the list archives and even if some posts were similar to my problem, I couldn't find a solution...
First, I must tell you I use Exim 3.12 along with Debian Potato release. There is one filter which is working fine and prevents non-zipped and executables to go through as attachements.
Now the problem : every once in a while, and it's mostly every 2 or 3 days, sometimes 4, I notice external mails don't get through anymore. So I check in /var/log/exim/ and see a 0 lenght mainlog file along with a 0 lenght paniclog file.
As I notice they are both -rw-r--r-- , I chmod them to 777 (-rwxrwxrwx) and everything goes back to normal in a few minutes.
The owner of the files is root, so I don't know why that happens...
I understand new log files are created every day at 06:25 AM according to empty files with no write permission.
For exemple, I checked this morning and found out yesterday and today, the log files were -rw-r--r-- so they both had 0 K lenght.
I chmoded back to 777 one hour ago and here you go, all mails went through :
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 2538222 Apr 23 11:38 mainlog
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Apr 22 06:25 mainlog.0
So here you can see the new files are created at 06:25AM. Where is that written ? Where is the config file for that ?
How to make sure they are correctly chmoded ?
Why are they correctly chmoded almost every day and sometimes it fails ???
Is that a known problem or am I the first with this issue ?

Weird thing is that it never happens with the rejectlog files which always are chmoded to 777 and the owner is mail.mail and not root.root ??!!
Oh and BTWn I noticed in the mainlog file the following lines :

And sometimes it goes 100 times with that frozen message thing. Is that an error ?
