for connecting through a unix domain socket i found that
mysql_servers = "/dbname/username/password"
is a good solution. reason for that turned out to be that
libmysqlclient uses a domain socket only if it gets a nullstring
as the servername. this is kinda old info, may have changed since
so that specifying ``localhost'' implies uds to libmysqlclient, but
since the old notation still works perferctly, i haven't bothered to
dive any deeper into that.
