It seems, that the expnasion of the hostlist-string doesn't do the lookup:
I set
route_list = * ldap;;ldap:///ou=persons,ou=ufdir,dc=unifr,dc=ch?mailhost?sub?(mail=$local_part@???) byname

note the doubled semicolon!
but the debug output showed the following:
