As far as I know, no MTA's know if the remote end will be using POP or
web-based email (or how it delivers its mail). It is irrelevant.
I believe it is just a coincedence that you are seeing this.

I don't know your configuration and I can't guess on what hosts don't work
for you. But I don't think it has anyting to do with a changed hostname or
MX record. Give us more information (share some examples).
