What's your local disk for the spool? Remember that Exim is IO limitted,
and the faster your local spool is, the faster the mail will be
delivered, and thus the less time it will spend on your system.

Donno about scalability, but it should work fine. Mailman is used on a
lot of sites (www.redhat.com and www.python.org) which should have a
fairly traffic.
