What was the time difference between you the error being logged and
you testing ?
The only thing I can think of is that all their nameservers are on one
network and they have a 15M TTL. If any part of your route to their
network goes away for even a short time ... no DNS.
dig tells me (nslookup is a lousy debugging tool);
dns1.interland.net. 15M IN A 64.224.20.132
