The same way you run sendmail as a daemon. Look at that set up, and do
something parallel. It really depends on how start-up scripts are
set on your system.
On my home machine, I have
/etc/rc.d/init.d/exim
which is modelled after the one that came for sendmail.
generally
exim -bd
will set up a listining daemon.
(just as with sendmail)
