Unworkable. You don't want to change actual addresses.

Let me re-state the nub of the problem:

There is no problem in arranging that X@domain and x@domain refer to
the same local mailbox. The problem arises in the handling of a single
message that is addressed to both x and X. Is it acceptable for there
to be two deliveries (as there must be if the domain is remote), or
do I have to invent some special way of ensuring that only one
delivery happens?
