Both exim and syslogd does that.

Look at here (this is syslogd output):

Feb 6 13:41:12 linuxbox exim[1059]: 2001-02-06 10:41:12 SMTP connection from localhost [127.0.0.1] closed by QUIT
Feb 6 13:41:28 linuxbox exim[1083]: 2001-02-06 10:41:28 Start queue run: pid=1083
