Okay this is what I have
In my main configuration Area I have
local_domains = lsearch;/etc/exim/domains/local
relay_domains = lsearch;/etc/exim/domains/relay
In Routers
ifuture:
driver = domainlist
transport = remote_smtp
route_file = /etc/exim/domains/route
search_type = lsearch
in /etc/exim/domains/local
ns.iftr.com
in /etc/exim/domains/remote
the servers in our domain
in /etc/exim/domains/route
iftr.com 216.18.61.48 byname
This is how I handle it to save me the ability of editing files later..
