Yes, I am fully aware that there is *far* more to it than just
grabbing a load of dl_open() etc. code and hoping for the best.

I have not really looked around the majority of the code, but the
lookup options (which is what we are talking about) seems to have a
reasonably clean, modular interface - so it should be feasible to turn
it into a dynamic "thingy" instead of the static code it is now.

I am happy to volunteer my time on some of this, but with the caveat that
I am really a BSD coder and would not have much experience in the
other primary OSes.

On the issue of not being able to support some OSes with dynamic
loading - that's fine, but support for those that can is wide, well
understood (there is code) and would be a great benefit.

Oh, those concerned with security and having rogue .so files loaded -
how is that different to the main binary being compomised ?
