Hi All,
I am having a problem with remote mail delivery on my dialup machine.
Basically remote mail is not being delivered. I am running Debian 2.2 and
a 2.2.17 kernel. I chose "2" when configuring exim.
When running through the recomended tests
(i.e.: exim -v -bt [<local username>|<remote address>])
everything appears to function normally. When I run a debug test
(i.e.: /usr/sbin/exim -bt -d9 <remote address>) it seems ok, realizing
it isn't a local address, it uses the smtp driver, finds the remote address,
and finishes w/tidying up.
Local mail is delivered fine.
I have attached a snipit from the mainlog that seems to indicate delivery
was
successful.
Also /var/spool/exim/db shows the following (and the file size doesn't
change).
16384 retry
0 retry.lockfile
16384 wait-remote_smtp
0 wait-remote_smtp.lockfile
No paniclog has been generated.
Could it be that my ISP is silently rejecting messages because my local
machine
name isn't resolvable?
If someone could at least give me some ideas on where to poke around to
start to
figure out where the ball is being dropped, I would really appreciate it.
Please cc me on any responses, as I am not signed on to the list.
Thanks, George
NOTE: cyclops is my local machine name.
