Paul, there is a script "exicyclog" in the Exim distribution. You can
do what your want from the crontab of "exim" user, i.e. the user who
owns Exim log files and have the right to write to log directory.

It is a Unix way to do thinds -- each program does its own job, and
these programs are grouped together to do the large projects.
