That's fine. The msglog files are provided only for the use of the
postmaster. Exim never reads them. It writes them (by appending) without
any special precautions or checking. If they get corrupted for any
reason, it shouldn't affect the mail delivery at all.

The error message you saw was, presumably, for a failed attempt to
update a header file, which because of the precautions, was *not*
corrupted. The about-to-be-released version of Exim will give more
detail in the error message in this situation.
