Howdy!

I'm trying to compile exim, and I can't figure out the
extra libraries that need to be compiled in for PAM.
In fact, when I look in /usr/lib , I don't see the
libpam.so.X that the documentation would lead me to
believe is the right stuff... but I know that I am using
PAM, right? All Debian boxen do, right?

Where are the pam libraries for linking in?

It's possible that I don't need PAM, in which case
this is moot, but I think that's the only way I can offer
authenticated SMTP utilizing user's login passwords.

I'm running Debian stable, and trying to compile
exim 3.16.
