[Exim] AUTHENTICATE LOGIN failure

Hi Folks,

I'm just setting up a new linux server with exim and during my tests I'm
not able to pull mail off the server using netscape as the client.

the /var/log/maillog shows:

AUTHENTICATE LOGIN failure host=hostname [XYZ.XYZ.XY.XYZ]
Oct 5 13:57:53 valerie ipop3d[1438]: Command stream end of file while
reading l
ine user=??? host=tina.thetech.org [xyz.xyz.xy.xyz]

I'm sure I'm overlooking something... any one with any ideas???
