Possibly.
But I had 33 log entries that day.
Or did that machine assume from reading the banner that there is no chance
to exploit my machine and moved on? ;-)

Oops! You are right! apnic answered.
Automatic redirection from standard whois server seemed to fail.
But, again, why should some host try to connect without doing
anything...
