I compiled 3.16 on irix 6.5 with gcc 2.95.1
Some details about what modifications were needed to get this compiled
can be found at:

( this machine is my irix development box, it may not be up 24/7 )
In this directory you'll find a README that details how I compiled 3.14
and 3.16 with perl 5.005_63 and ldap lookup support, using OpenLDAP 1.2.11
Also included are the Local/Makefile I used, and the slightly modified
build-IRIX65-mips/Makefile
There is a tarfile of my /usr/local/exim directory there aswell, this
may or may not work for you, judge for yourself based on the options in
Local/Makefile ( Makefile.Local-3.16 )
