Does this mean that the problem I am experiencing is because of the
version?? I have the same 1.62 on a similar box with the identical O/S
and don't have this problem. Is there something I can try? BTW, what
exactly does "Segmentation fault" mean?

This has its reasons. While external hosts are important to keep
up to date because of bugs and potential security features, as
well as new possibilities every version introduces, upgrading
internal hosts is often cumbersome and not really critical
(unless a bug is found which really interferes with sending
mail).
