[Exim] offtopic - testmessage for 8-bit data

hello,

this is not a exim question because i'v still some sendmail's running.
maby there is sombody here who can help me.

how can i test if a mailserver accepts 8-bit data?

the server "says" EHLO and accepts the 8BITMIME command as well - but
somtimes it gets "Cannot send 8-bit data to 7-bit
                  destination ... Data format error".

is if i put the "8BITMIME" in the commandline via telnet, the mailer
accepts it with 7-bit.
