Tcpwrappers check the originating IP address _after_ accept(2).
Then, if they decide to deny the connection, they just close(2)
it without any explanation.

And go around looking for obscure bugs for the rest of your life.
One of my reasons not to install qmail was that it didn't support
traditional .forward files at that time. I couldn't tell all our
users to convert to .qmail.
