What program does "newaliases" actually run on your machine? It is a
sendmail-ism which Exim doesn't support directly. Sometime it is set up
to run Exim's exim_dbmbuild utility, but this depends on your system. If
Exim itself is called under the name "newaliases", it is equivalent to
exim -bi
and runs the command specified by the bi_command in its configuration.
There's nothing set in the default distributed configuration.
So your questions can't be answered with more information.
If you aren't using a dbm file for any aliases, you don't need to do
anything special anyway.
