Please could you (non-specific - ie meaning everyone on the list) read

The problem is that we can get rumours about exim randomly corrupting
all mail starting which are very hard to eradicate even through the bug
in question only affected a few test releases and no proper releases.
wrt the problem you described, I would seriously look at the MUA - exim
doesn't really care about MIME, whereas some MUAs have a very strange
and broken idea of MIME.
