Isn't it usually possible to insert this into your slapd.conf (or
whatever the LDAP server config file you use is) as a configuration
option for the server???
From the UMICH slapd documentation (for v3.3):
sizelimit <integer>
This option specifies the maximum number of entries to return
from a search operation
Default:
sizelimit 500
I realise this may not be the best way to do things but it certainly
cuts down (a) the load on the server when someone makes a wildcard
search, and (b) the amount of work Exim has to do sifting the results!
