Aha! I think I now understand. Let me see if I have got this right:
o All mail should come from randy@???.
o Mail sent to "randy" on roam.psg.com should be delivered to
randy@??? (i.e. locally) and not to randy@???.
Is that right? If so, what you need is
qualify_domain = psg.com
qualify_recipient = roam.psg.com
The first of these qualifies senders, the second recipients. The second
defaults to the first if you don't set it.
All of this is independent of local_domains and primary_hostname except
that if you don't set local_domains or either of the qualifys, they
default to primary_hostname.
Originally, Exim just had qualify_domain, which applied to both senders
and recipients. The additional qualify_recipient was added at 0.35 after
discussion with a user who was experimenting with Exim and having a
problem with setting up his world as he wanted it. I seem to recall that
