If you used maildir mailboxes then the qmail pop server will work with
any scheme you wish. This is because the authentication and setting of
directories and similar policy can all be done by the checkpassword
program, which is a separate small program which can easily be rehacked
to any form you like. Its also easy to prototype this within perl
although thats rather heavy for a production service.
Anyone know of a comparison list of pop servers, or is willing to
contribute such a list or sections of such a list - pop server
questions are becoming as common as exim questions now....
