Yes, I thought of this one just after I hit the "send" button to reply
to Nigel's message.

No, that is an entirely new kind of configuration entity. Using a single
colon-separated string, in the way I suggested, fits in with current
practice. If/when oracle support is added, you would get a new option
called oracle_servers with its own list of server data.
