I had a program and an alias file on a machine with sendmail
I tried to move to another machine with exim.
I put it in the .forward file for the address involved.
It work in full ... but send an error message to any one sending a
message to that address.
The .forward is:
"|/home/dic/listre -counter /home/dic/PROT +reply-too
delegato-protocollo@???
DAEMON@www.dicea.unifi.it /home/dic/protocollo.1"

all in one line. the uses is dic, listre is a program that add a
number to the subject line (storing it in PROT) and forward
that message to the list of users in protocollo.1 list.

If i send a message to dic@??? all these things are
performed WITH ONE ANNOYING ADDITIONS and one
less annoying:
The annoying one is that every one that send a message
recevive a message back as the following one:

---------- Forwarded message ----------
Date: Thu, 8 Jul 1999 11:10:20 +0200
From: Mail Delivery System <Mailer-Daemon@???>
To: leo@???
Subject: Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender

This message was created automatically by mail delivery
software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to all of its
recipients. The
following address(es) failed:

  protocollo@???:
    generated |/home/protocollo/listre -counter
/home/protocollo/PROT +reply-too delegato-
protocollo@??? DAEMON@www.dicea.unifi.it
/home/protocollo/protocollo.1

The following text was generated during the delivery attempt:

------ |/home/protocollo/listre -counter
/home/protocollo/PROT +reply-too delegato-
protocollo@??? DAEMON@www.dicea.unifi.it
/home/protocollo/protocollo.1 ------

220 dipolo.dicea.unifi.it ESMTP Exim 2.05 #1 Thu, 8 Jul

.... and so on with the diagnostics of the listre programs
(NOTICE: the smtp message logged on head are the
outpust of the sast lines of the program ... when it send the
processed message to the list)

This is VERY anoying since it is not a real error message !
the less annoying one is the following in mainlog:
1999-07-08 11:25:06 112AQU-0001l1-00 => leoncini
<leoncini@???> D=localuser T=local_delivery

1999-07-08 11:25:07 112AQU-0001l6-00 Completed

Note that before are sent the messages, and after are
written the errors !!!!
How to avoid the error message to the user ?
