I have noticed problems with the various RBL servers over the past
few weeks. Today, none of
rbl.maps.vix.com
dul.maps.vix.com
dssl.imrss.org
are reachable, and in fact can not even be looked up in the DNS,
although maps.vix.com and
www.imrss.org can.
However,
http://maps.vix.com/rbl/ is reachable and mentions
nothing about an outage.
http://www.imrss.org can be contacted,
but times out.
This causes problems when users try to send mail, some MUAs
( ex Eudora ) timeout, since it takes so long for all the rbl dns
lookups to fail.
I have no idea what is going on here, but can there be a way to
specify a shorter timeout for inaccesable rbls ?
