For non-british people problems start with simple text mails.

If you use quoted-printable-encoding for the umlauts and other
national characters, the non-MIME-bounce usually results in
ugly things like "=FC"s and all other staff of sequences you
can't directly resend.

Moreover, most people nowadays tend to use Netscape, Outlook
rather than Pine or mutt. These clients do not have any problems
with MIME-messages.

And third, more advanced clients can automatically recover
failure reasons from the bounce.
