Slink (which should be released as Debian 2.1 soonish) includes exim 2.05.
Potato (probably Debian 2.2 _eventually_, probably won't be released until
fairly late in the year though) includes exim 2.11 and will include 2.12
soon (and any subsequent releases). Packages from either ought to work fine
on a Debian 2.0 system.
By the way, in slink, exim replaces smail as the default MTA.
